A new kickbox workout from Amy Bento with five Kickbox combos interspersed with five heart pumping surges. The surges are kickbox athletic-style drills that make the workout even more of a challenge. A modifier is provided for most of the higher impact moves and kickbox combos. The kickbox combos are filled with kicks and punches of varying tempo and then Amy will cool you down properly before you refine your core. You will need a 6 to 8 pound medicine ball to properly train the muscles of the mid body resulting in a stronger and refined core. Finally, a stretch will restore your muscles for the next workout. The DVD has multiple options and pre-mixes for different lengths of workouts to achieve optimal fitness results. Amy Bento is the star of many high rated workout DVDs and is owner of nrgfitness.net. Amy is certified by the AFPA PT, AFPA Advanced PT, NASM CPT Cramer Emergency Sports Medicine Trainer, Certified Sports Nutritionist, CPR Certified and Certified Renegade Kettlebell Instructor.
Tracey Mallett and company combine cardio dance and Tae Kwon Do to the beat of African percussion in this high-intensity workout. The "First Intensity" combines chasses with sidekicks and gallops with jabs for a high-impact routine. "Second Intensity" offers variations of the first with front kicks and squats added. "Third Intensity" begins with a couple minutes of the Chinese art of Qi and then quickly becomes a blend of the first two, but encompassed in a more complicated routine. She cools down with some Pilates-based stretches. With her exaggerated facial expressions and vocal enthusiasm, Mallett often seems to be auditioning for an Austin Powers sequel, but her dance moves are straightforward and sweat is guaranteed in this 53-minute class. –Kimberly Heinrichs
